SPRING SOCCER – Week one underway!
Lost & Found – Please turn in lost items into the concession stand and look for them there.
Weather – Weather – Weather – With such a nice winter, early spring we forget that temps are still chilly and with any chance of welcome rain we can get, cold/rainy/wind isn’t the most pleasant to be out in. Weather is watched daily per forecast and radar readings at 4pm each day. Games will be canceled accordingly. Cancelations will be announced via mass email, radio and front page of the website by 4pm on game nights. U6 parents are responsible for checking the email you have on registration and front page of website on Saturday mornings, before you head out for games. As an association, we don’t want anyone to miss any games as much as possible; however as a parents, a game in cold/wet/windy weather, is not worth a sick child during the school year and missed work days, either.
Trash – Please PICK UP the trash as you leave the fields. It was a little embarrassing looking out on the fields Tuesday night at the mess that was left behind. EVERYONE needs to respect the Facilities. Garbage cans are placed on all sides of the fields as you leave. THANK YOU for your cooperation.
Game Areas – It is helpful for coaches and players to be on the opposite side of parents and fans. Please consider sitting on the opposite side of the team during games.
Healthy Concessions – Robyn continues to provide fruit and healthy snack options at the concession stand. Send your player to the concession stand for a GREEN snack. You can go to http://www.facebook.com/MunchCodeSD or http://www.healthysd.gov/Communities/default.aspx for more information on healthy communities.
Practice Space Reminder – Jefferson Elementary South grass area is used by YMCA in the spring. Please use PILC or other park options for practices. Thanks.

APRIL 28th & April 29th – BIG SOCCER WEEKEND in PIERRE
With all the traveling that we all do year round for all the different activities our kids are in, CASA wants to be able to provide competition here at home and bring people into the community for soccer action. With hosting an event at home, we look for many hands to help make this event a huge success. Save gas and food money and sleep in your own bed this soccer weekend; while signing up to help for different volunteer shifts during the event.
· U10 Rec Tournament – So far we have 12 teams signed up to play and just heard of 3 more to come in. That averages to 150 players + parents and referees. If your player is playing in the tournament, please sign up for a volunteer spot.
· Friendly Scrimmages – We are working with a variety of soccer associations to bring U12-U19 friendly scrimmage games to Pierre the same weekend. We currently are planning on 12-24 games being played with Rapid City, Aberdeen, Brookings, Chamberlain and Pierre. We’ll average 150 players + parents for these games. All CASA members are encouraged to sign up to help volunteer for this event. What a great opportunity to bring in extra money for the community and the soccer program.
· Midwestern Regional League (MRL) – The MRL program is a regional competition platform within US Youth Soccer. Teams have to earn application to compete at the regional level. Two SD teams and one ND team will be meeting in Pierre April 28th and April 29th to scrimmage. These teams rotate to different locations during the year for competition. If you’d like to take in a U17 MRL game, they will be playing at PILC soccer fields, Sat and Sun. With 3 teams of players, coaches and referees we can expect around 75 people for this part of the weekend.
We are looking at about 300 visitors to our soccer community the weekend of April 28th and April 29th. This is a great way to showcase Pierre, but a few people can’t pull this event off alone. It will take the CASA families to pull this off and make it an even bigger event for next year. SIGN UP to volunteer on the website…under TOURNAMENTS! Thank you!
· Sponsorships – With 300+ soccer fans coming to Pierre the weekend of April 28th and April 29th, this is a great way for your business to advertise at this event. Sponsorships are $200 to have your Business advertised at the event. Your business will be advertised on the website and concession stand for any donated items for the event. Email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Kim at 280-1561 to help Sponsor this event.
Soccer Jewelry – Do you need a little bling to add to your soccer cheer gear attire? If you’re looking for a special graduation or birthday gift for the soccer people in your life…CASA will be selling soccer jewelry starting the weekend of April 28th and April 29th at the soccer fields.
Soccer Jerseys – CASA will be replacing jerseys used for fall and spring soccer. If your business would like to sponsor a set of jerseys, your company logo will be placed on the front of the jerseys with a life span of 5 – 6 years of wear. Jersey Sponsorships are $500 for a set. Email email@example.com or call Kim at 280-1561 or Bobi at 280-8672.
PHEW – It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to play a game of soccer. It will take even more work for all of us to play A LOT of soccer this weekend.
THANK YOU to ALL OUR SOCCER FAMILIES that make SOCCER a SUCCESS!
Soccer – Keep it Simple and Fun! Get out and Get in the Game!
